Re: LCC Endorsement of Proposed Charter Amendment
No. 5
Dear Jay,
Thank you very much
for your informative presentation at tonight’s Laurelhurst Community Club Board
of Trustees meeting. The Board voted to
endorse Seattle Proposed Charter Amendment No. 5.
We appreciated your presentation
and your response to our questions at our meeting. In reaching our position on the measure, the
Board also considered objective, nonpartisan materials prepared by the League
of Women Voters and an editorial opposing the measure from the Seattle Weekly—materials included in the
agenda packets distributed prior to the meeting. At the meeting, Trustees also discussed an article
that appeared in today’s Seattle Times
about the proposed charter amendment.
The Board was
convinced that district election of councilmembers
would promote accountability and greater responsiveness of councilmembers. We also voted to contribute $50 to your
campaign.
