RE: Availability of Model for Neighbors at the Community Center and Future Meetings
Dear Tom,
At last night’s scoping meeting, I suggested that the model you have prepared to illustrate proposed expansion at Children’s be on display at the Laurelhurst Community Center. Since then, I have been in touch with Dena Schuler who is the coordinator at the Community Center for the Parks and Recreation Department. She indicated that space could be provided to have the model on display.
Having the model on display at the Laurelhurst Community Center will provide a great opportunity for neighbors to learn about the master planning process and the concept plan. It would be an excellent tool to get neighbors involved in the process. Our expanded community center has staff on hand at the reception desk to insure security of your model.
It was also suggested at the scoping meeting that future meetings relating to the master planning process be held in a neutral setting that is more inviting to neighbors. LCC recommends that you schedule future advisory committee meetings and public meetings relating to the environmental review process at the Community Center. Neighbors would be more likely to attend meetings in more familiar surroundings. One of the goals of the Major Institutions Code is to “encourage significant community involvement.” We believe this could best be accomplished by scheduling meetings at our community center.
Please contact Dena Schuler at 206-684-7529 or dena.schuler@seattle.gov to arrange for your model to be on display at the Community Center and for scheduling future meetings involving the master planning process. Thank you for your assistance.
Sincerely,
Jeannie Hale, President
